Special thanks to Jennifer Lozano for taking these amazing photos!
Today’s post is very special. It’s all about our sweet Mallory Sauer who we all miss so much. The idea behind this post is to honor her and let you guys know how much she represents to us. I promise I’m going to try to be as happy as I can, even though this is very hard to me try write about. Thinking of her and the moments we lived together brings so much joy and puts a smile in my face but unfortunately she is not with us anymore because she lost her battle with cancer two months ago.
For those of you who don’t know who Mallory Sauer was, let me introduce her to you.
Mallory was one of Denver’s most stylish fashion bloggers I knew and her story is one everyone needs to know about because she is one of the strongest girls I’ve ever met. She had an ongoing fight with Crohn’s for many years and in 2015 she was diagnosed with stage 4 Melonoma. Here you can find out more about her health stories because she was open about them from day one and that’s one of the things I admire Mallory so much for. She was never afraid of telling her story, instead she wanted to share it with everyone and help those who were going through the same.
Her blog Sweet & Sauer highlights her amazing sense of style. And I say amazing, because Mallory had a way of putting things together like no one else does! She was the queen of the effortless look. I never met an outfit I did not like on her.
I specially loved the way she would always style her accessories. If there was one thing Mallory and I had in common besides our love for fashion was our obsession with accessories.
She was always wearing the cutest watches, necklaces, bracelets and rings. The necklace I’m wearing in these pictures used to be hers and I can’t express how much it means to me. She used to wear it all the time and it reminds of her so incredibly much.
I met Mal in August of last year through Desire of Darling be Daring. I remember Des and her were planning to go to NYFW and I decided to join them. We met a couple of times before traveling together to New York and we got along so well. Amber of Every once in a style also came to NYFW with us and we all stayed in the same hotel room. And yes, that room! oh boy! that room was crazy! there were clothes everywhere and our bags were stacked to the ceiling haha. What an adventure and incredible time it was! It was the best trip and I will never forget those memories.
My favorite memory with Mal is an epic one and it’s from NYFW of course! As we were walking towards the venue where the Jeremy Scott show was going to take place, Mallory and I were holding hands and walking down the street to meet with Des and Amber. And all of the sudden, we had all these street style photographers taking photos of us like crazy! It was our very first time being photographed during fashion week and we were so excited!
We felt like we were on the top of the world and our hearts were about to explode! I remember Mallory saying, bucket list wish checked! and that girl was as happy as she could be!
One thing I will always be grateful for with Mallory is how close she brought all of us together. These girls mean so much to me and I can’t even put into words how happy I am to have them in my life. As a blogger, it is so important to have friends in the same industry and people you can always trust and rely one and these girls are my ride or dies.
They are amazing, so talented and because we miss our Mallory so much we wanted to do something special to honor her and that’s why we came up with this photoshoot that we decided to call “That’s so Mallory!” because all of these outfits are inspired by her killer style and we all just wanted to look Oh! “So Mallory!” 🙂
Here is my sweet Alena of Moda Prints rocking a gorgeous metallic skirt look inspired by one of Mallory’s NFWY outfits! That’s the outfit she wore the day we were chased for the first time by street style photographers in NYC. Mallory always knew how to dress things up or down and I loved how she made this night time look so perfect for the day with that denim jacket!
Des opted for an edgy boho look Mallory always looked so good in! She always liked to elevate these type of looks with hats, gold accessories and of course, her adorable nude crossbody Gucci bag she was always so proud of 🙂 She was so into oversized clothing and I remember how much she loved this top!
Amber styled this gorgeous pleated silk skirt just like Mallory would! She loved her neutral colors and always found a way to make them look unique and sophisticated! Amber recreated this outfit so well and added accessories just like Mallory would always do.
Gold accessories were her favorites and this statement necklace was the perfect touch to make this outfit look “So Mallory!”.
And, I followed Mallory’s instructions on this DIY blog post and recreated this outfit I always considered my favorite of hers! I remember seeing this look on her and copying it right away! She looked so amazing and rocked that graphic-t like no one else.
If there’s one thing I learned from Mallory is to live life to the fullest. She was such a brave girl and always tried her best to enjoy every day as much as she could. She never complained and was always SO grateful for anything anyone would do for her. She was kind, sweet, supportive, inspiring, honest and had amazing sense of humor! And her style will forever inspire US!
These pictures make my heart so full! There’s so much love in them and there’s not a day that goes by without us thinking of YOU Mal! We MISS you and LOVE you so much! And we hope these pictures make you happy in heaven! We can’t express how much we wish you were here! We talked non stop about you while taking these photos and we will forever have you in our hearts!
Thanks so much for stopping by and reading guys! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post as much as I enjoyed putting it together! Make sure to stop by Mallory’s blog and get inspired by her beautiful style and story.
xx,
Caro.

Reading this brought fresh tears to my eyes all over again. I connected with Mallory about a year and a half ago, and remember being so inspired by her story – and we always chatted about our struggles with health (though mine is nowhere near as serious as hers was). When I read her blog post basically saying “this is it, guys, it’s going to be soon,” I fell apart. The day I found out she had passed, I practically couldn’t function. She had been such a bright light in my life. However, I can’t help but smile through my tears right now, because you all channeled her so perfectly, and she is surely watching with a giant smile on her beautiful, now-healthy, face. Thank you for continuing to bring Mallory into our lives after her passing. I hope she is never ever forgotten. Such a beautiful soul.
This post touched my heart! What a sweet way to remember Mallory!
Aww this was such a sweet post. Thank you so much for sharing this. So beautiful!
